Description

Life constantly makes more demands as time goes on (or rather, as I "grow up"). I'm one of those people that take a lot longer to mature than others. Not much has changed over the past year, but I've overwhelmed myself mentally from looking too far into the future; I've discouraged myself, lowered my self-esteem, and have lost motivation. As a result, the ZC project I was previously working on has been tucked away, as it warrants far too much work for me to continually stay interested.

Fortunately, I've been becoming less bitter and less cynical (albeit only slightly in this regard) over the past few months, so things I'd normally take with disgust (ie. praise) I'm more accepting of now. Reading through a few things over the years in pertinence to my days as a large ZC quest maker showed me how much people enjoyed those simple little quests I used to make, despite how much I grew to dislike them, myself.

Still maintaining interest in ZC despite my dismay over my inability to continue with my larger project, I decided to begin something I at least "half-swore" I'd never do.

Due to the appreciation for my old quests, I've decided to go on to try and create a sixth installment in my old "A Link to the Darkness" series, which is a heavy fan-made ripoff of LttP.

During the progress of my planned huge project, I created a small quest utilizing the Newfirst set (a combination of GB, BS, and LttP graphics with a custom palette) named "Ibuprofen", which was a quest of extreme dumbfuckery (ie. NPC's saying things like "yowzer!!! I fucked the spaceship coochie O_o;;;;"), inspired by a friend's small 4-hour project along the same theme.

In this submission, the picture on the left is a screenshot from Ibuprofen; The Streamside area, specifically, although sporting the original Newfirst overworld palette.

The screenshot on the right is the aforementioned one reworked in my upgrade of the set, which I've dubbed "Newfirst Ultra." This is what I'll be utilizing to create ALttD6 (as every last installment utilized the original Newfirst), and I'm almost at the point of preparation where I can begin to build the actual quest.

My reworked set will feature more GB graphics, all of Ibuprofen's custom palettes, as well as graphics from any other Zelda games that may fit in with the set's style. Additionally, I'll be releasing the set someday. People that are familiar with past tileset releases are aware that I'm (was, rather) a terribly unorganized person in terms of graphics. This set is, so to speak, a "cluttered organization". It's not exactly a mess per se, but rather, most similar tiles are grouped closely together to the point where there shouldn't be much of a problem locating things. In fact, here's an example. Not quite like your typical organization in tilesets these days, but it keeps the quest at a low filesize.

Not to call him out or anything as the set is very nice (the current standard, to be exact), but Radien's DoR set suffers from large quest size due to tons of empty tile spaces--granted this is not a problem for users that have DSL or above, there are still plenty of dial-up users out there in which download time is painful for even something of a few megabytes in size.

Anyway, I've not anything else to say I can think of. I don't expect to be successful in my endeavors, but I figured it wouldn't hurt just to show off a little something.

I'm in love. I had an idea to do the same thing, only it was more leaning toward Sludge's Mini LttP. Needless to say I quit. Mostly cuz I lost all of my progress when my puter died.

Also, Keep up the good work, bro.
